I bought a Mongoose mountain bike Snare, suggestions for adjustments and updates?

Snare bought a mongoose mountain bike, I was wanting to know if there is anything I should do to it? Do you normally take in the bike shop etc adjustment. All that remained was to keep this thing maintained keep ur maintenance. Oh and another thing, and suggestions for upgrades? I'm starting to ride up the mountain, so you only need the advice of pilots mountian advid!

I hate to say this, but enemies Rider is probably correct. The Walmart Mongooses are a blight on mountain bike, are very convincing (which are very nice from a distance) if you do not know what you are seeing, but what we've done a lot of very poor quality components thrown together as quickly as possible to resemble to a bicycle. Even the bike mechanic determines most can not do much with bikes like that are just plain bad. You might be lucky enough to have one that was built correctly, but not worth spending money on improvements unless they are going to exchange on whether to buy another MTB. I do not want to put anything, there is nothing wrong in entering mount to off-road with a low budget, but a Walmart bike is not the best way to go.
